David Marroquín (Mexico)

Born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1979, David Marroquin studied upright bass in ESMD in his native city, participating in the Children and Youth Orchestras of the conservatory. At the same time studying jazz, he also studies electric bass. He formed part of different musical projects and performances, the most recognized, “Wings of the Eagle” and the musical “the show of the ten pianos”, realizing tours in USA, Mexico, Central and South America. In his native city he also participated in various recording sessions.
In 2006 he moved to Barcelona to continue his studies in „Aula de Música Moderna y Jazz del Conservatorio del Liceu“. This same year he wins a part-scholarship from Berklee World Scholarship Tour. David was also granted a scholarship of three years by the IEA and realized master classes with Gary Willis.
He participated in several projects with Barcelona Gospel Messengers, Kena Toledo, Jordi Bonell, Muriel Grossmann, Baiao Brazil, performing in festivals of Jazz and World Music, the most important, Jazz Festival Vic, Barcelona, Ibiza, Nisville Jazz festival, Festival Vijazz and Gira Diversons of the Foundation of Caixa.
He currently lives and works in Barcelona and is part of different projects as upright and electric bass player.
