           When the vital ener\u00adgies work their way through a group of musi\u00adci\u00adans, the psy\u00adcho\u00adlo\u00adgi\u00adcal expe\u00adri\u00adence is of inner joy that beco\u00admes grea\u00adter then the sum of the indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal\u00adly inves\u00adted parts. The images are not orde\u00adred to pre\u00adsent a well-known pic\u00adtu\u00adre of a fami\u00adli\u00adar sub\u00adject. What occur in this music are com\u00adbi\u00adna\u00adti\u00adons of con\u00adtras\u00adting rising and fal\u00adling light and sound sub\u00ads\u00adtances, which dart in com\u00adple\u00adte\u00adly unex\u00adpec\u00adted direc\u00adtions. The images will whirl in spi\u00adral through an unli\u00admi\u00adt\u00aded space wit\u00adhout ever see\u00adming to be ham\u00adpe\u00adred by any arbi\u00adtra\u00adry limits. Music of the moment makes the who\u00adle, or as Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann puts it: \u201cWe were play\u00ading with a con\u00adcept, crea\u00adting orga\u00adnic unity.\u201d The com\u00adple\u00adte musi\u00adci\u00adan\u00adship, evi\u00adden\u00adced by the quar\u00adtet mem\u00adbers on this record, can be set down to the fact that each mem\u00adber is awa\u00adre not only of their own per\u00adso\u00adnal needs, but are con\u00adscious of being part of a living pro\u00adduc\u00adti\u00adve orga\u00adnism, which not only ful\u00adfills the needs of its mem\u00adbers but pro\u00advi\u00addes end\u00adless plea\u00adsu\u00adre and sti\u00admu\u00adla\u00adti\u00adon for the listener.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Aus\u00adtri\u00adan Alto and Sopra\u00adno saxo\u00adpho\u00adnist and com\u00adpo\u00adser Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann is widening her musi\u00adcal com\u00admit\u00adment and bold explo\u00adra\u00adti\u00adons, crea\u00adting urgent and ele\u00advat\u00ading music. With sin\u00adgu\u00adlar ima\u00adgi\u00adna\u00adti\u00adon Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann is a play\u00ader and com\u00adpo\u00adser with a blend of tra\u00addi\u00adtio\u00adnal and visio\u00adna\u00adry, abso\u00adlut\u00ade\u00adly explo\u00adsi\u00adve throug\u00adhout; music here is the case in point. The Crea\u00adti\u00adon of ever evol\u00adving shapes moving in mul\u00adti\u00addi\u00adrec\u00adtion\u00adal ways; open struc\u00adtures, giving the fee\u00adling that the pro\u00adcess of making music is an end in its\u00adelf and not just the means of obtai\u00adning a per\u00adfect\u00adly finis\u00adhed pro\u00adduct. In the last years Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann has been per\u00adforming and recor\u00adding with such artists as Wolf\u00adgang Rei\u00adsin\u00adger, Chris\u00adti\u00adan Lil\u00adlin\u00adger, Johan\u00adnes Fink and lea\u00adding her own pro\u00adjects. She was just recent\u00adly sel\u00adec\u00adted for best jazz record of the year in the cate\u00adgo\u00adry \u201cmil\u00adlor nova pro\u00adpos\u00adta 2009\u201d in Jazz Maga\u00adzi\u00adne Ja\u00e7 (no. 30, Feb\/March 2010) for Cd Quar\u00adtet (Dream\u00adland\u00adre\u00adcords, DR<\/span> 03 CD<\/span>).<\/span><\/p>\n

                \u201cThe suite Birth of the Mys\u00adtery is about ela\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adting the idea of a joyful birth in a musi\u00adcal way. Crea\u00adti\u00adon is coming through us but not from us. The\u00adre are six important sta\u00adtes of mind. Strength is about will power. Trust is about, all that comes to you is meant for you, so trust and your actions will be good. Breathing is about the essen\u00adti\u00adal part of being con\u00adscious as the breath flows, to use the power of the now. Pati\u00adence is about the peaceful\u00adness in non-action. Ope\u00adning, as in ever\u00ady\u00adday life, is about being open to give and to recei\u00adve com\u00adpas\u00adsi\u00adon and love; and Slide is about let\u00adting the things fall right into your hands to Wel\u00adco\u00adme it, so the joy can ease you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

              The Quar\u00adtet is com\u00adpo\u00adsed of Rado\u00admir Milo\u00adj\u00adko\u00advic on gui\u00adtar, who both as accom\u00adpa\u00adnist and soloist, has sophisti\u00adca\u00adted sen\u00adsi\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty and high-level of con\u00adsis\u00adten\u00adcy; with the drums of Mar\u00adko Jela\u00adca, an orches\u00adtral con\u00adti\u00adnu\u00adum of rhyth\u00admic irre\u00adgu\u00adla\u00adri\u00adties that nevert\u00adhel\u00adess mark the most rigo\u00adrous metric, and bas\u00adsist David Mar\u00adro\u00adquin, who with same sen\u00adse of free\u00addom always brings a wide ran\u00adge of rhyth\u00adms and sounds. This music is uni\u00adver\u00adsal; they com\u00adpo\u00adse quar\u00adtet to the power of four, as well as a quar\u00adtet four times unique.<\/span><\/p>\n

             Each com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adon is a stu\u00addy in its\u00adelf, the ela\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon of the musi\u00adcal con\u00adcepts through harm\u00ado\u00adny, melo\u00addy and rhythm. \u201cI was most\u00adly wri\u00adting in the night\u00adti\u00adme, while ever\u00ady\u00adbo\u00addy was asleep. An ear\u00adly gem from saxo\u00adpho\u00adnist Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann \u2013 alre\u00ada\u00addy at the sort of apex that would make her one of the key spi\u00adri\u00adtu\u00adal jazz play\u00aders in the deca\u00adde to come \u2013 crea\u00adting the sort of music that\u2019s made her one of our favo\u00adri\u00adte con\u00adtem\u00adpo\u00adra\u00adry jazz musi\u00adci\u00adans here at Dus\u00adty Groo\u00adve! The vibe here is slight\u00adly dif\u00adfe\u00adrent than some of Grossmann\u2019s more recent mate\u00adri\u00adal \u2013 may\u00adbe a bit more open and less modal, but still with this way of buil\u00adding up a tune in the\u00adse bold blocks of sound! Muri\u00adel blows alto sax throug\u00adhout \u2013 and as on many of her other gre\u00adat recor\u00addings, gui\u00adta\u00adrist Rado\u00admir Milo\u00adj\u00adko\u00advic is a key part of the sound here \u2013 crea\u00adting all the\u00adse tones and colors in a pia\u00adno-less group that also fea\u00adtures David Mar\u00adro\u00adquin on bass and Mar\u00adko Jela\u00adca on drums.
