One step fur\u00adther each time.  Ever sin\u00adce Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann dis\u00adco\u00adver\u00aded dro\u00adnes for hers\u00adelf, she has con\u00adtin\u00adued to refi\u00adne the play\u00ading of her quar\u00adtet.  The late Col\u00adtra\u00adne and the Afri\u00adcan heri\u00adta\u00adge of jazz were alre\u00ada\u00addy the mile\u00adsto\u00adnes on the last record \u00bbGol\u00adden Rule\u00ab.  On the suc\u00adces\u00adsor, the saxo\u00adpho\u00adnist turns the poly\u00adrhyth\u00admic screw a litt\u00adle and turns from John to Ali\u00adce Col\u00adtra\u00adne.  The mul\u00adti\u00adface\u00adted dro\u00adnes are again coming from gui\u00adta\u00adrist Rado\u00admir Milo\u00adj\u00adko\u00advic, dou\u00adble bass play\u00ader Gina Schwarz and drum\u00admer Uros Stam\u00adpen\u00adko\u00advic.  The sound spec\u00adtrum is expan\u00added to include the organ sounds from Llo\u00adren\u00e7 Bar\u00adcel\u00f3.  Gross\u00admann trans\u00adfers Count Basie\u2019s cre\u00addo, the ide\u00adal for his band to \u201csound like one big drum\u201d, to her group and achie\u00adves exact\u00adly that.  Only one of the eight pie\u00adces is (even just bare\u00adly) less than nine minu\u00adtes.  Gross\u00admann immer\u00adses with her group into the ecsta\u00adcy of rhyth\u00adms and sounds.  In con\u00adtrast to the exam\u00adp\u00adle of Col\u00adtra\u00adne, Grossmann\u2019s ges\u00adtu\u00adre is simi\u00adlar\u00adly medi\u00adta\u00adti\u00adve, but pro\u00advi\u00adding a lot more air for the dif\u00adfe\u00adrent events.  She lets indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal tones stand, does not line up motifs like pat\u00adterns one after the other, but looks for the\u00adma\u00adtic con\u00adsis\u00adten\u00adcy.  No end\u00adless gar\u00adlands, but a lot of melo\u00addic inven\u00adti\u00adve\u00adness in the rhyth\u00admic maelstrom.  If you can and want to, you should con\u00adsider the excel\u00adlent vinyl edi\u00adti\u00adon by RR<\/span> Gems: thick vinyl, lar\u00adge, hea\u00advy card\u00adboard cover with impul\u00adse! Aes\u00adthe\u00adtics.  And then this music with its tonal depth and its wide dyna\u00admic spec\u00adtrum.  A musi\u00adcal and hap\u00adtic moment of happiness.
