Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann \u2014 Quiet Earth <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Quiet Earth, the new album of the Aus\u00adtri\u00adan saxo\u00adpho\u00adnist Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann living in Spain, has been re-released by the Esto\u00adni\u00adan label RR<\/span> GEMS<\/span> Records as Vinyl. Like the pre\u00advious album \u2018Rever\u00adence\u2019, Muri\u00adel recor\u00added it on her Ibi\u00adza island in the quin\u00adtet for\u00admat. Mal\u00adlor\u00adcan orga\u00adnist Llo\u00adren\u00e7 Bar\u00adcel\u00f3 seems to have beco\u00adme a per\u00adma\u00adnent mem\u00adber of the team with which Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann has been working tog\u00ade\u00adther for many years.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

In her own hand\u00adwrit\u00adten liner notes, Muri\u00adel speaks of the deep imper\u00adfec\u00adtions of our world, which make many feel hel\u00adp\u00adless. She claims that ever\u00adyo\u00adne should look for strength and posi\u00adti\u00adve ener\u00adgy for chan\u00adge in them\u00adsel\u00adves, and her music should help lis\u00adten\u00aders to find hope and that very posi\u00adti\u00adve energy.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Well, for me per\u00adso\u00adnal\u00adly, Muri\u00adel Grossmann\u2019s music always evo\u00adkes the most posi\u00adti\u00adve emo\u00adti\u00adons. Quiet Earth, small in volu\u00adme, was no excep\u00adti\u00adon. The album includes only four com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adons by Muri\u00adel. In the ope\u00adning song WIEN<\/span>, the only thing that can be cal\u00adled clas\u00adsi\u00adcal (in a jazz sen\u00adse) is the con\u00ads\u00adtruc\u00adtion of the com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adon, whe\u00adre, after a saxo\u00adpho\u00adne solo, Milojkovic\u2019s gui\u00adtar, then Barcelo\u2019s organ, and final\u00adly Grossmann\u2019s saxo\u00adpho\u00adne again come to the fore\u00adground. But jud\u00adging by the music, Muriel\u2019s memo\u00adries of the capi\u00adtal of her nati\u00adve Aus\u00adtria are clo\u00adser to the archi\u00adtec\u00adtu\u00adre of Hun\u00addert\u00adwas\u00adser and Haneke\u2019s films than to the idyl\u00adlic land\u00adscapes of impe\u00adri\u00adal Vien\u00adna during the time of Franz Joseph.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adon AFRICAN<\/span> CALL<\/span> with the accen\u00adtua\u00adted work of the rhythm group and bright saxo\u00adpho\u00adne colours looks like an echo of Afri\u00adcan moti\u00adves that occu\u00adp\u00adied the main place in the pre\u00advious album \u2018Rever\u00adence\u2019. The impres\u00adsi\u00adon that the\u00adre was sim\u00adply no place for Afri\u00adcan Call in that album, but here \u201cAfri\u00adca\u201d \u200b\u200bworks well in con\u00adtrast to the Euro\u00adpean \u201cVien\u00adna\u201d. As for the second half of the album, the pie\u00adces by PEACEFUL<\/span> RIVER<\/span> and the title pie\u00adce QUIET<\/span> EARTH<\/span>, seem to be the ones who embo\u00addy Muri\u00adel Grossmann\u2019s dreams of how our pla\u00adnet should look like.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

What can a musi\u00adci\u00adan do for this? To com\u00adpo\u00adse music and put into the per\u00adfor\u00admance so much expres\u00adsi\u00adon and talent that the lis\u00adte\u00adner feels and remem\u00adbers this pas\u00adsio\u00adna\u00adte mes\u00adsa\u00adge wit\u00adhout words from the gre\u00adat mas\u00adter of modern jazz, Muri\u00adel Grossmann.
