1. You moved to the Balea\u00adric Islands almost two deca\u00addes ago. How has Spa\u00adnish cul\u00adtu\u00adre affec\u00adted your music? <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

I have moved to Ibi\u00adza in 2003 after having lived in Bar\u00adce\u00adlo\u00adna for one and a half years and I belie\u00adve the sun\u00adny side of the pla\u00adnet fits bet\u00adter to my per\u00adso\u00adna\u00adli\u00adty or at least helps me to main\u00adtain a posi\u00adti\u00adve mind sta\u00adte throug\u00adhout the year. The Medi\u00adter\u00adra\u00adne\u00adan folk\u00adlo\u00adre rhyth\u00adms have always fasci\u00adna\u00adted me, you can hear them in the Kna\u00adwa music as well as in the Ibicen\u00adco folk\u00adlo\u00adre music. The music that I com\u00adpo\u00adse comes from various exter\u00adnal fac\u00adtors intern\u00adal\u00adly trans\u00adla\u00adted expe\u00adri\u00aden\u00adcing living here. The sea so clo\u00adse, the clean sal\u00adty<\/span> air, the lush Medi\u00adter\u00adra\u00adne\u00adan vege\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon, the mul\u00adti-facet cul\u00adtures repre\u00adsen\u00adted on this small island by its inter\u00adna\u00adtio\u00adnal inha\u00adbi\u00adtants, the deep spi\u00adrit of the 70s move\u00adment still<\/span> eng\u00adrai\u00adned here and in my life, the pos\u00adsi\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adties of the place I live now sin\u00adce more then 10 years (stu\u00addio at my house gar\u00adden around etc.), time for con\u00adtem\u00adpla\u00adti\u00adon and of cour\u00adse being a mother or two won\u00adderful sup\u00adport\u00ading kids and the pos\u00adsi\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adty of play\u00ading on a dai\u00adly bases during the long sum\u00admer sea\u00adsons and of going on tour most\u00adly in the spring autumn and win\u00adter months.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

2. I have read that \u2018Uni\u00adon\u2019 was an album that emer\u00adged from a live set. What led you to make the decis\u00adi\u00adon to record and publish it?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

With the pan\u00adde\u00admic shut\u00adting down every usu\u00adal rou\u00adti\u00adne lived befo\u00adre, we were able to publish a recor\u00adding ses\u00adsi\u00adon that we added on a small tour in the neigh\u00adbor\u00ading islands, which we were very fond. Uni\u00adon came to be a prio\u00adri\u00adty record in a time whe\u00adre I was not able to record a sequence to Rever\u00adence and I am very hap\u00adpy to have cap\u00adtu\u00adred the live spi\u00adrit of the band again after a long time, the pre\u00advious live record being Awa\u00adke\u00adning a recor\u00adding of a live con\u00adcert with the gre\u00adat Chris\u00adti\u00adan Lil\u00adlin\u00adger and Robert Land\u00adfer\u00admann. Cap\u00adtu\u00adring a live per\u00adfor\u00admance or recor\u00adding during the peri\u00adod of a tour allows the audi\u00adence to expe\u00adri\u00adence the ener\u00adgy and pure spon\u00adta\u00adneous emo\u00adti\u00adons of a per\u00adfor\u00admance as if they whe\u00adre there.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

3. When each musi\u00adci\u00adan has his own side pro\u00adjects, how is your way of working as a quar\u00adtet? Do you curr\u00adent\u00adly have many oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adties to play together?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

All musi\u00adci\u00adans in my band inclu\u00adding me have side pro\u00adjects but we choo\u00adse to give prio\u00adri\u00adty to my pro\u00adject. I take the most joy in going deeper with one for\u00adma\u00adti\u00adon. Music is a high\u00adly com\u00adplex rich lan\u00adguage and the pro\u00adfound under\u00adstan\u00adding and more ela\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adte com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adti\u00adon that plays tog\u00ade\u00adther in the music heard by the audi\u00adence comes from play\u00ading in the same for\u00adma\u00adti\u00adon over a long peri\u00adod of time. At least that is how it<\/span> func\u00adtions for me.<\/span><\/strong><\/span>

\n4. Making jazz music requi\u00adres the con\u00adstant use impro\u00advi\u00adsa\u00adti\u00adon and expe\u00adri\u00admen\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon. Does the dai\u00adly trai\u00adning on this crea\u00adti\u00adve mecha\u00adnism also help you see life in a dif\u00adfe\u00adrent way?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

My life revol\u00adves around music. Expres\u00adsing mys\u00adelf through that vehic\u00adle is the clo\u00adsest to my heart and the ful\u00adlest expres\u00adsi\u00adon of my pos\u00adsi\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adties but all my decis\u00adi\u00adons and choices in dai\u00adly life are always made out of the neces\u00adsi\u00adties of the moment like in music. The most ease and joy I have prac\u00adti\u00adcing or rea\u00adding and pro\u00adces\u00adsing what I read. But in all<\/span> other acti\u00advi\u00adties or non-acti\u00advi\u00adties I try come clo\u00adse to that feeling.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

5. Fol\u00adlo\u00adwing the path of some of your recent records in which you plun\u00adged into spi\u00adri\u00adtu\u00adal-jazz, the songs on Uni\u00adver\u00adsal Code, are named after very spe\u00adci\u00adfic fee\u00adlings, sta\u00adtes and con\u00adcepts rela\u00adted to the spi\u00adri\u00adtu\u00adal awa\u00adke\u00adning pro\u00adcess. How do you mana\u00adge to trans\u00adla\u00adte the\u00adse com\u00adplex con\u00adcepts into pieces?<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

My com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adons are a natu\u00adral expres\u00adsi\u00adon of the evo\u00adlu\u00adti\u00adon I\u2019m going through in life. Each of them is about a cer\u00adtain reflec\u00adtion peri\u00adod, Earth Tones is about tuning into the<\/span> needs of our pla\u00adnet, Natu\u00adral Time is about under\u00adstan\u00adding the moti\u00adva\u00adti\u00adon behind and brin\u00adging for\u00adward ones essence, Momen\u00adtum is about a con\u00adscious decis\u00adi\u00adon towards the<\/span> bene\u00adfit of others, Gol\u00adden Rule is about under\u00adstan\u00adding of the fun\u00adda\u00admen\u00adtal aspect of human inter\u00adac\u00adtion, making the choice that pro\u00admo\u00adtes the well-being of the peo\u00adp\u00adle around us, Rever\u00adence is about hono\u00adring the roots, Quiet Earth is about moment by moment decis\u00adi\u00adon making, Uni\u00adver\u00adsal Code is about tran\u00ads\u00adcen\u00adding out bio\u00adlo\u00adgi\u00adcal limi\u00adta\u00adti\u00adons and choo\u00adsing enligh\u00adten\u00adment. Each album repres\u00adents a stage of deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adment during a spe\u00adci\u00adfic time peri\u00adod. As a musi\u00adci\u00adan, I use the vehic\u00adle of music to ful\u00adly express mys\u00adelf and trans\u00adla\u00adte my expe\u00adri\u00aden\u00adces into pie\u00adces that cap\u00adtu\u00adre the essence<\/span> of my jour\u00adney. This pro\u00adcess is a natu\u00adral one that comes from a deep con\u00adnec\u00adtion to the clear light mind and a desi\u00adre to com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adte in the most authen\u00adtic and meaningful way<\/span> pos\u00adsi\u00adble.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
