Lis\u00adtening to the <strong>Natu\u00adral Time<\/strong> record in its enti\u00adre\u00adty, was inde\u00aded an expe\u00adri\u00adence, like tra\u00adve\u00adling wit\u00adhout moving, and I could not help but think, that the\u00adre is a link to what some\u00adbo\u00addy once said: \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of modal music, that is play\u00aded every day throug\u00adhout the world. It\u2019s par\u00adti\u00adcu\u00adlar\u00adly evi\u00addent in Afri\u00adca, but if you look at Spain or Scot\u00adland, India or Chi\u00adna, you\u2019ll dis\u00adco\u00adver this again in each case. If you want to look bey\u00adond the dif\u00adfe\u00adren\u00adces in style, you will con\u00adfirm that the\u00adre is a com\u00admon base. That\u2019s very important. Cer\u00adtain\u00adly, the popu\u00adlar music of Eng\u00adland is not that of South Ame\u00adri\u00adca, but take away their purely eth\u00adnic cha\u00adrac\u00adte\u00adristics \u2014 that is their folk\u00adlo\u00adric aspect \u2014 and you\u2019ll dis\u00adco\u00adver the pre\u00adsence of the same pen\u00adta\u00adto\u00adnic son\u00ado\u00adri\u00adty, of com\u00adpa\u00adra\u00adble modal structures.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt; color: #99ccff;\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The link was not only con\u00adfirm\u00aded, but also broa\u00adden\u00aded during con\u00adver\u00adsa\u00adti\u00adon, through ano\u00adther aspect that is equal\u00adly important to the artist. \u201cFor me <strong>Natu\u00adral Time<\/strong> is about brin\u00adging for\u00adward the essence of ones natu\u00adre. You have kept your path and one day, ever\u00ady\u00adthing comes tog\u00ade\u00adther. In Music it is like in life. It feels like, when living accor\u00adding to that inner call, your ener\u00adgy is having direc\u00adtion. You just know, what you have to do, each step you are taking feels to be at the right time. Same goes for this record and tunes, par\u00adti\u00adcu\u00adlar\u00adly in Peace for All and Your Pace, it ela\u00adbo\u00adra\u00adtes on the same thought of making things right and brin\u00adging for\u00adward the best in yours\u00adelf, other peo\u00adp\u00adle and the situa\u00adti\u00adon you are in. As for Afri\u00adcan Dance, it\u2019s a homage to this abun\u00addant land and it\u2019s gre\u00adat peo\u00adp\u00adle, while Hap\u00adpi\u00adness is a medi\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon on hap\u00adpy thoughts from moment to moment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #99ccff; font-size: 12pt; font-family: calibri;\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Fin\u00adding the right musi\u00adci\u00adans was an important part in the making of Natu\u00adral Time, musi\u00adci\u00adans who play it peaceful\u00adly but inten\u00adse. \u201cI\u2019ve play\u00aded with Uros Sta\u00admen\u00adko\u00advic many years ago in Bar\u00adce\u00adlo\u00adna, befo\u00adre he went to live and play in Toron\u00adto, but on his way back to Euro\u00adpe, we star\u00adted to play a lot more tog\u00ade\u00adther \u2014 a gre\u00adat musi\u00adci\u00adan who knows to play for the group and knows what music needs. As for Gina Schwarz, we know each other from Vien\u00adna whe\u00adre we play\u00aded with dif\u00adfe\u00adrent groups. Her strong bond with music comes through with every note she plays. With Rado\u00admir Milo\u00adj\u00adko\u00advic I have work\u00aded for so many years and we made a lot of music tog\u00ade\u00adther and yet every new record is a new adven\u00adture. This time it tur\u00adned out to be about voya\u00adge, open space, dri\u00adving through woods, desert, moun\u00adta\u00adins, near sea\u00adsi\u00adde. We were also try\u00ading to imple\u00adment dif\u00adfe\u00adrent kinds of instru\u00admen\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon and sets of musi\u00adcal dro\u00adnes to the com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adons like sar\u00adan\u00adgi, flu\u00adte, har\u00admo\u00adni\u00adum, bells and others, as we alre\u00ada\u00addy intro\u00addu\u00adced in our pre\u00advious album \u2018Earth Tones\u2019 <span class=\"caps\">DR<\/span> 07&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">CD<\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt; color: #99ccff;\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;What works good for the con\u00adclu\u00adsi\u00adon of this liner notes, is what Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann said to me at the end of our con\u00adver\u00adsa\u00adti\u00adon. \u201cNatu\u00adral Time is a simp\u00adle true mes\u00adsa\u00adge, sim\u00adply play\u00aded for peo\u00adp\u00adle like you and&nbsp;me.\u201d&nbsp;<em><br>\nJ. The tunes here all have this fan\u00adta\u00adstic sen\u00adse of pul\u00adse \u2013 ener\u00adgy that comes from the\u00adse sub\u00adli\u00adme bass\u00adli\u00adnes by Gina Schwarz, balan\u00adced with open-ended drum\u00adming from Uros Sta\u00admen\u00adko\u00advic, and given all the\u00adse warm colors by gui\u00adta\u00adrist Rado\u00admir Milo\u00adj\u00adko\u00advic \u2013 a play\u00ader who\u2019s equal\u00adly bril\u00adli\u00adant on the record as Gross\u00admann \u2013 who blows both sopra\u00adno sax and alto, each with this ama\u00adzin\u00adgly intui\u00adti\u00adve sen\u00adse of a solo \u2013 as if her spi\u00adrit is effort\u00adless\u00adly flowing through the horns. <a style=\"color: #008000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dustygroove.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Dus\u00adty Groo\u00adve, Chicago<\/em><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt; color: #339966;\"><strong><span class=\"caps\">JAZZQUAD<\/span> \u2014&nbsp;<span class=\"caps\">BELARUS<\/span> Feb&nbsp;2016<\/strong><br>\nI have had the plea\u00adsu\u00adre to acquaint our rea\u00adders with the works of Aus\u00adtri\u00adan saxo\u00adpho\u00adnist Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann, living on the Ibi\u00adza, Spain, for her 2015 album&nbsp;<em>Earth Tones<\/em>. On the first day of 2016 Muri\u00adel released a new album under the name of&nbsp;<em>Natu\u00adral Time<\/em>. If the pre\u00advious work car\u00adri\u00aded a con\u00adcep\u00adtu\u00adal Gross\u00admann (an over\u00adview of the disk can be found on the web\u00adsite), the out\u00adward\u00adly Natu\u00adral Time is not. As Muri\u00adel descri\u00adbed in an inter\u00adview with <span class=\"caps\">JC<\/span> San\u00adders, which for\u00admed the basis of his liner notes, \u201eNatu\u00adral Time is just a sin\u00adce\u00adre&nbsp;mes\u00adsa\u00adge, an album, whe\u00adre we&nbsp;play for&nbsp;ordi\u00adna\u00adry peo\u00adp\u00adle&nbsp;like you and me.\u201c I&nbsp;per\u00adso\u00adnal\u00adly think, it is not so, becau\u00adse here almost every com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adon, even if not lin\u00adked by a com\u00admon the\u00adme, has its phi\u00adlo\u00adso\u00adphi\u00adcal implications.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #339966; font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;\">Howe\u00adver, let us first hear about the obvious chan\u00adges in&nbsp;<em>Natu\u00adral Time<\/em>&nbsp;in com\u00adpa\u00adri\u00adson with her pre\u00advious work. Muri\u00adel plays here not only on the sopra\u00adno but also the alto saxo\u00adpho\u00adne. It is the Aus\u00adtri\u00adan bas\u00adsist Gina Schwarz, an old fri\u00adend of Muri\u00adel still in Vien\u00adna, and the Ser\u00adbi\u00adan drum\u00admer Uros Sta\u00admen\u00adko\u00advic. The quar\u00adtet her\u00adein rea\u00adches gen\u00adder pari\u00adty, and per\u00adhaps the balan\u00adce of yin and yang was the key to the harm\u00ado\u00adny and inner balan\u00adce of the per\u00adfor\u00admance of Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admanns music. In con\u00adtrast to this title pie\u00adce, in the final com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adon \u201eBliss\u201c, it see\u00admed to me, the\u00adre is no time at all. From this pie\u00adce brea\u00adthes Bud\u00addhism, it is full of inner peace, as if lost in the asce\u00adtic nir\u00adva\u00adna \u2013 again in my free inter\u00adpre\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon of Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admanns music. And the \u201ekey\u201c for the&nbsp;music which hap\u00adpens, the com\u00adpo\u00adser gives hers\u00adelf in the same inter\u00adview for the liner notes. Reflec\u00adtions on hap\u00adpi\u00adness (\u201eHap\u00adpi\u00adness\u201c) with an impres\u00adsi\u00adve bass solo by Gina Schwarz in the intro\u00adduc\u00adtion, and also ano\u00adther does not requi\u00adre expl\u00adana\u00adti\u00adon, the pie\u00adce cal\u00adled \u201ePeace For All\u201c, and dedi\u00adca\u00adted to the plight of Afri\u00adca \u201eAfri\u00adcan Dance\u201c a pie\u00adce with a graceful rhyth\u00admic pattern.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #339966; font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt;\">And for all this pro\u00adfound\u00adnes, this music is sur\u00adpri\u00adsin\u00adgly easy to lis\u00adten. If the\u00adre is the con\u00adcept of \u201euser-fri\u00adend\u00adly inter\u00adface\u201c, is appli\u00ades to the music of Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann, she is fit to intro\u00addu\u00adce a \u201efri\u00adend\u00adly new jazz\u201c; this style of music is not always found.
