I said, \u201cThat\u2019s it! I dri\u00adve south. \u201cA fri\u00adend and I bought a bus and then we went. I only knew that I wan\u00adted to go to Moroc\u00adco. But the bus col\u00adlap\u00adsed befo\u00adre in Bar\u00adce\u00adlo\u00adna. Then I was stuck from one day to ano\u00adther \u2014 and it was gre\u00adat! <\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt; color: #339966;\">Born in Paris, but living in Vien\u00adna sin\u00adce the age of 4, Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann under\u00adtook an intri\u00adca\u00adte musi\u00adcal jour\u00adney until that Bar\u00adce\u00adlo\u00adna trip. The father\u2019s clas\u00adsi\u00adcal record coll\u00adec\u00adtion pro\u00advi\u00added ear\u00adly inspi\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon, the first steps were made in dif\u00adfe\u00adrent ensem\u00adbles with the flu\u00adte, the first own songs in the sin\u00adger-song\u00adwri\u00adter idi\u00adom were writ\u00adten on the gui\u00adtar. At first I play\u00aded a lot of soul, R <span class=\"amp\">&amp;<\/span> B, world music, also jazz. I could try a lot, play\u00aded to a lot of records. Then it was clear.<\/em> \u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt; color: #339966;\">Muri\u00adel Grossmann\u2019s <span class=\"caps\">CD<\/span> releases are an evo\u00adlu\u00adtio\u00adna\u00adry sto\u00adry. The roots of the various CDs are deve\u00adlo\u00adp\u00adments of pre\u00advious recor\u00addings. The initi\u00adal spark was the invol\u00adun\u00adt\u00ada\u00adry, and then so pio\u00adnee\u00adring forced stay in Bar\u00adce\u00adlo\u00adna. In 2003 Gross\u00admann then went to Ibi\u00adza to know the island and imme\u00addia\u00adte\u00adly got into the sce\u00adne the\u00adre and deci\u00added to move the\u00adre and Rado\u00admir caught up with her the\u00adre in 2006. The island has been their cen\u00adter of life ever sin\u00adce. \u201c<em>Ibi\u00adza is the Mec\u00adca of inspi\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon for me. Becau\u00adse of the light and the sea, the air, becau\u00adse of the natu\u00adre. I would wri\u00adte com\u00adple\u00adte\u00adly dif\u00adfe\u00adrent music if I had stay\u00aded in Vien\u00adna. And that\u2019s how I star\u00adted wri\u00adting inten\u00adsi\u00adve\u00adly, of cour\u00adse. <\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt; color: #339966;\">After making recor\u00addings with her first quar\u00adtet, Gross\u00admann got in touch with other musi\u00adci\u00adans through Joa\u00adchim K\u00fchn: drum\u00admer Chris\u00adti\u00adan Lil\u00adlin\u00adger and dou\u00adble bas\u00adsist Robert Landfermann.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt; color: #339966;\">They play\u00aded tog\u00ade\u00adther at the Eivis\u00adsa Jazz Fes\u00adti\u00adval in 2011 and released the 2013 recor\u00adding on the <span class=\"caps\">CD<\/span> \u201cAwa\u00adke\u00adning\u201d. A pro\u00adgram\u00adma\u00adtic title, becau\u00adse the recor\u00adding and its con\u00adse\u00adquen\u00adces trig\u00adge\u00adred some\u00adthing, which drew its cir\u00adcles until the new <span class=\"caps\">CD<\/span> \u201cGol\u00adden Rule\u201d: \u201c<em>The encoun\u00adter with Joa\u00adchim first made my stan\u00addards freer. And then it went right into the avant-gar\u00adde, and I came to musi\u00adci\u00adans like Chris\u00adti\u00adan Lil\u00adlin\u00adger and Robert Land\u00adfer\u00admann. That\u2019s when I took a dif\u00adfe\u00adrent turn, and that came from enga\u00adging in this medi\u00adta\u00adti\u00adon. That was at the time of \u201cAwa\u00adke\u00adning\u201d. The influence of spi\u00adri\u00adtu\u00adal jazz alre\u00ada\u00addy is audi\u00adble.<\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt; color: #339966;\">The cen\u00adtral land\u00admark was the next <span class=\"caps\">CD<\/span> \u201cEarth Tones\u201d (2015). Here Gross\u00admann work\u00aded for the first time with very spe\u00adcial dro\u00adnes as scaf\u00adfol\u00adding and at the same time inspi\u00adra\u00adti\u00adon for the musi\u00adcal events. During a win\u00adter in a house in the moun\u00adta\u00adins, sur\u00adroun\u00added by a lot of forest and litt\u00adle civi\u00adliza\u00adti\u00adon, a gong-CD was play\u00aded late at night. The idea for the Dro\u00adnes was born: \u201c<em>The\u00adre is an idea behind it what I want to wri\u00adte about. This idea comes from the fact that I reflect a lot on dif\u00adfe\u00adrent things. Some are inward, some out\u00adward. With \u201cEarth Tones\u201d I thought I nee\u00added a mes\u00adsa\u00adge for the peo\u00adp\u00adle that we all help tog\u00ade\u00adther and take care of the earth. And so the respec\u00adti\u00adve album is crea\u00adted imme\u00addia\u00adte\u00adly. It is not that I wri\u00adte this today and that tomor\u00adrow, but the con\u00adcept is crea\u00adted in a very short time, usual\u00adly in one day. At \u201cEarth Tones\u201d I first recor\u00added the\u00adse dro\u00adnes, line\u00adar\u00adly. Not per pie\u00adce, but per album. I star\u00adted with the tam\u00adbu\u00adra as a base. The con\u00adcept was that I wan\u00adted to wri\u00adte some\u00adthing for the Earth, and sup\u00adpo\u00adsedly Earth has the tone of C Sharp\/D Flat. Of cour\u00adse, I can not veri\u00adfy that (laughs), but then I took that and wro\u00adte a over\u00adto\u00adne-tone series whe\u00adre I chan\u00adged just one tone, and assi\u00adgned the pie\u00adces to it. The\u00adr\u00ade\u00adfo\u00adre, the pie\u00adces also all have a gra\u00addu\u00adal chan\u00adge in pitch. That\u2019s always very important to me. It\u2019s like a sca\u00adle swin\u00adging in the back\u00adground of the suite. If you lis\u00adten to the album from start to finish, it\u2019s a big sca\u00adle. So I knew in which keys I wan\u00adted to wri\u00adte the pie\u00adces. I then play\u00aded all the pie\u00adces with the tam\u00adbu\u00adra first. Now, of cour\u00adse, a dyna\u00admic came out, which star\u00adted quiet\u00adly, slow\u00adly increased and final\u00adly drop\u00adped again. And then I took the next instru\u00adment, and then the next, and so on. Then I had all my dro\u00adnes and took my saxo\u00adpho\u00adne and play\u00aded with it. From front to back. And then Rade made the gui\u00adtar dro\u00adnes, and then Chris\u00adti\u00adan and Robert later play\u00aded on it. <\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt; color: #339966;\">Each <span class=\"caps\">CD<\/span> can be unders\u00adtood as a suite. The indi\u00advi\u00addu\u00adal pie\u00adces always fit under an over\u00adall arc and a reso\u00adnant con\u00adtent the\u00adme. For this music, it requi\u00adres co-musi\u00adci\u00adans who sup\u00adport this way of play\u00ading and working 100%, and bes\u00adi\u00addes Milo\u00adj\u00adko\u00advic, Gross\u00admann has cho\u00adsen sin\u00adce the 2016 album \u201cNatu\u00adral Time\u201d for this quar\u00adtet Milo\u00adj\u00adko\u00advics com\u00adpa\u00adtri\u00adot Uros Sta\u00admen\u00adko\u00advic on drums and Gross\u00admanns Vien\u00adna col\u00adle\u00adague Gina Schwarz on bass. \u201c<em>After \u201cEarth Tones\u201d I wan\u00adted to wri\u00adte some\u00adthing that had this medi\u00adta\u00adti\u00adve idea, but also swing, and Rado\u00admir then told me to call Uros. They have known each other for a very long time. For me he is my Elvin Jones (laughs). He is a gre\u00adat drum\u00admer. Of cour\u00adse we also had oppor\u00adtu\u00adni\u00adties to grow tog\u00ade\u00adther. At first we went on tour with \u201cNatu\u00adral Time\u201d. And then he\u2019s here for three months every sum\u00admer. I just brought Gina becau\u00adse I always wan\u00adted to do some\u00adthing with her. She is a monu\u00adment! What a for\u00adc\u00e9 she has! And her phra\u00adsing is always \u201cJazz\u201d. We do not need to talk much about that. She always play\u00aded as I like it any\u00adway. Alt\u00adhough she other\u00adwi\u00adse plays very dif\u00adfe\u00adrent music too. But she has such a Groo\u00adve, such strong fin\u00adgers! It\u2019s not so easy with this music, whe\u00adre you have to play 15 minu\u00adtes through. <\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt; color: #339966;\"><span class=\"dquo\">\u201c<\/span>Gol\u00adden Rule\u201d is the third <span class=\"caps\">CD<\/span> of the cur\u00adrent quar\u00adtet, and here the dro\u00adne prin\u00adci\u00adple, as alre\u00ada\u00addy on the pre\u00adde\u00adces\u00adsor \u201cMomen\u00adtum\u201d (2017) is inte\u00adgra\u00adted in ano\u00adther way: \u201c<em>The Dro\u00adnes come out of the play. Sin\u00adce then I have heard the pie\u00adces after recor\u00adding and then I know what I want to have on each one. First and fore\u00admost, the sounds are important. I keep the\u00adse dro\u00adnes more or less secret, in their com\u00adpo\u00adsi\u00adti\u00adon. The lis\u00adte\u00adner can get curious what instru\u00adments are play\u00aded, or even sud\u00adden\u00adly per\u00adcei\u00adve some\u00adthing. On \u201cMomen\u00adtum\u201d the\u00adre are e.g super\u00adim\u00adpo\u00adsed dou\u00adble bas\u00adses. In \u201cGol\u00adden Rule\u201d Marim\u00adba, Kalim\u00adba, it is also more in the Afri\u00adcan direc\u00adtion. That\u2019s how I can play with the har\u00admo\u00adnies. Sin\u00adce 2007 she has been releasing her CDs on her own label \u2018Dream\u00adland Records\u2019. She app\u00adre\u00adcia\u00adtes the maxi\u00admum artis\u00adtic free\u00addom, both in terms of music and the lay\u00adout of the CDs, which so far have all been deco\u00adra\u00adted with pic\u00adtures of her and her child\u00adren. For \u201cGol\u00adden Rule\u201d the\u00adre ope\u00adned a new per\u00adspec\u00adti\u00adve. The vinyl label \u2018<span class=\"caps\">RR<\/span> Gems Records\u2019 released a dou\u00adble <span class=\"caps\">LP<\/span> with a dif\u00adfe\u00adrent lay\u00adout two months befo\u00adre the <span class=\"caps\">CD<\/span> rel\u00e9a\u00adse, with an ali\u00aden\u00adated cover pho\u00adto a Litt\u00adle ori\u00aden\u00adta\u00adted towards Col\u00adtra\u00adnes Impul\u00adse! Vinyls, very sui\u00adta\u00adble for the den\u00adse and mul\u00adti-face\u00adted music of \u201cGol\u00adden&nbsp;Rule\u201d.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt; color: #339966;\">But Muri\u00adel Gross\u00admann is alre\u00ada\u00addy one step ahead. Ano\u00adther quar\u00adtet album with drum\u00admer Wolf\u00adgang Rei\u00adsin\u00adger and bas\u00adsist Peter Her\u00adbert will be available for release in 2019, and the next album with her quar\u00adtet is alre\u00ada\u00addy recorded:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: calibri; font-size: 12pt; color: #339966;\"><span class=\"dquo\">\u201c<\/span><em>This will be the apo\u00adtheo\u00adsis of ever\u00ady\u00adthing that was men\u00adtio\u00adned befo\u00adre, and it will defi\u00adni\u00adte\u00adly put ever\u00ady\u00adthing in the right per\u00adspec\u00adti\u00adve and give mea\u00adning to the who\u00adle sto\u00adry. It\u2019s just a con\u00adti\u00adnui\u00adty sin\u00adce \u201cEarth Tones\u201d. The\u00adre, ever\u00ady\u00adthing was dedi\u00adca\u00adted to the earth to rai\u00adse our awa\u00adre\u00adness of our envi\u00adron\u00adment. \u201cNatu\u00adral Time\u201d then says, \u201cFind your own rhythm, your talent and pass it on to the world.
